About the firm

We specialize in the practice of family law.  We founded this firm to provide our clients with the highest caliber of effective and efficient representation.  Before we founded Helwick Sevier, we were partners at McManis Faulkner, a well-known Bay Area trial and family law firm.

We are trial lawyers with extensive experience in complex, high stakes litigation.  We set ourselves apart from other family lawyers in the unmatched quality of our work, our high level of expertise, and the depth of our combined experience.  We are highly respected and well-known within the local bench, bar, and community, which enables us to command better results for our clients.

We have experience in cases dealing with a wide variety of assets and income, including all types of real and personal property as well as employment-based equity such as restricted stock and stock options, and more specialized investment interests like venture capital and hedge funds.  We also have expertise in child custody and visitation matters, ranging from simple to complex issues, including international move-aways.

We work closely with our clients to help them navigate what can be a complicated process related to the dissolution of marriage, legal separation, and child custody and visitation.  We offer services for clients every step of the way, from pre-planning consultation, through filing, judgment, and post-judgment matters.  As a result, our clients are better able to manage and understand the legal process, yielding a more positive outcome for the entire family.
